Buderus Room Sensor Installed I Have A Question

Roosterboy, glad you have finally seen the comfort of the room sensor. Buderus tech support told me not to play with the ref temp too much, but instead turn the "room comp" all the way up to 15 the highest setting. This will give the room sensor maximum control over your heating curve. The room sensor logic will do all the fine tuning work for you. You also have to give it some time learn your system, how big your DHW tank is, how long to recover, etc. At first mine would overshoot a bit, but now it knows how to hit the right target.

hay guys with a room sensor for constant circulation
dose it save to use set-back at night like a 3 deg
setback
or is more for comfort and personal choice rather then savings
so far it's working good just got done installing it will see how it works i hope i save fuel with this thing :-)
thanks

what?
What do you have for heat emmiters? What type of construction ? Tight, loose? Insulation?
Lifestyle, personal preference? It all depends. If you have infloor heat it won't recover from setback so good.
I don't remember but , you have to set some dip switches in your BFU and I think you have to tell your 2107 you have a room sensor. You probably know that and already took care of it. Are you using one or two circuits on the 2107? I think for "good" construction you set it at (2) two. Make sure it is three ° and not nine.
I would prefer to setback in the day time when the sun is shining and every one is at school or work. Also you may not have DHW production in setback, unless you tell it. Freeze ups can occur on a real cold nights when the system is setting back. Well, not with constant circ, but with t-stats.
Personal preference and comfort are the key, energy savings is an added bonus. Once you decide, "set it and forget it" like ron popeil says. This thing has some sort of adaptive intelligence and it will "learn" the heat cycles. Resist the urge to play with it, it will work better. good luck

hi bill my real name is Jason just so you know :-)
i have baseboard heat and so far the room sensor works well when i have the room sensor set for 72 my house was 73 and it's still heating the boiler. i just installed it last night so have not had time to baby sit it :-)
but will watch how it dose today set back worked good last night went down to 68 and it was cold ;-) not use to that. i will just set back from 72 to 70 tonight 68 was just to cold :-)
i just hope this thing doesn't over shoot my house maybe i have to lower my reftemp down one more notch
28 deg outside last night and was heating my house at 73 with 135deg water when the room sensor was set to 72
oh and room compensation is set to 18 and also r2107 is set to rmsensor setback
thank you

I have outdoor...
reset with my Tekmar 260...I set it for 68 and leave it. it would take too long to recover and not "save " fuel...kpc

today is cold out 32F and my boiler is keeping my house nice 73 with 128F water and drops to 104 and turns the boiler back on. about once every 25 mins for 4 mins
yesterday evening was 28 and boiler fired to 135 and drop to 110 and kept the house 73 I'm real happy with this new bfu room sensor i wish i installed earlier
i think i have my ref-temp right on the money with a reftemp of 142 and 1 offset
thanks

i just wish i did this sooner :-) thing works great Dan do you use setback on your bfu at night?
also what are you using as a ref-temp and off set
and room compensation is set to 18
thanks
Jason0 -
I use 3.6* setback (#2 on the BFU) at night and during the day because I have high mass system which takes a long time to recover from setback. The BFU is great, you just set it and forget it, and the BFU does all the work for you 24 hours you never have to touch it. Buderus told me to stick with the factory ref temp I think its 142 or something, and no offset. I have fin/tube convectors which they consider similar to high temp 180* baseboard.0 -
hi Dan i use number 1 witch is a 1.8 setback
Dan do you have any pictures of your boiler setup
thanks
Jason
