Is it code in NYC for plumbers to install a single-leaver faucet, rather than two separate control knobs - i.e., one knob for hoty and one for cold water in the new bathroom showers/tubs? I know a lot of heating jobs are done by plumbers.

Not sure of NY
But in NJ you are required to use a pressure balance valve to prevent scalding. Pressure balance valves are single handle units. Hope this helps.0
