Weil-Mclean VHE Boiler, 3 Zones, Banging Noise
[Deleted User]

I have a VHE type boiler with 3 zones. I get very loud banging that seems to be coming from the boiler and/or manifold that is connected to the 3 returns (3 electrical valves on them). We had banging in the pipes and I have bled all three zones.
I read the info. on the valves can cause banging when open simulateously and also some info on cold water running into hot water being a problem.
The temp/pressure cycles from 225F/15psi down to about 140F/15psi.
Any other suggestions of things to check? Thanks.

you should be able to manually open the zone valves temporarily. If the noise persists, it is not the zone valves.
If it is determined that it is the zone valves, you can change the circulator back to a pump with adequate flow, with lower pump "head".
Banging is also caused by inadequately sized, or failed compression tanks.

What type valves ?When did the noise start ,what changed ? Location of valves to the circulator ? When does it make noise, on start up orshut down ?0 -
banging zone valves
Do you have a bypass on the supply header to the return header to temper the water a litle before it gets to the boiler?0
