Should you install a heat exchanger and add some glycol to protect it from happening again? I just bid a job using the Taco X block mixing station. Ideal for this type of application. Chack it out. WW

he PEX burst and we need some

general guidance/advice/confirmation regarding proper setup of this radiant floor system after we repair the burst he PEX connection. One 20foot X 20 foot room with three exposed (outside) walls with lots of (dual thermopane) windows in each of the three exposed walls. he PEX installed on 6 inch centers in slab is all I know about the installation which is ten years old. It has always provided ample heat running off of the DHW tankless coil in a Weil McLain 572 steam boiler with the aquastat set to 160*F. The following is our proposed "NEW" installation scenario::
For supply water (presently at aprox 60 PSI) at street water input place a water pressure reducer valve 12 to 18 PSI ( or lower preferably)and backfeed preventer check valve , reuse existing Taco circulator inserted in the return leg, install expansion tank, install 30 PSI safety valve, install mixing valve to temper HOT feed using the COLD return water. Reuse existing plain standard thermostat.

OPTIONALLY install pressure and temperature gages for monitoring/control.

O.K., what would you guys do?

    Thanks for your help, Jim/Alfred

do you have a link to the Taco X Block your describing, couldn't find it on the Taco site. This would work perfect for an air handler job I'm bidding that's going to need glycol. Thanks!.

    taco X-Block looks great, but.....

what improvement/efficiency advantages does it provide for the $700 price tag over the install parts cost listed above?
Also what are repair/replacement costs ramifications? On the proposed "simple" installation if the circulator dies it can be replaced for about $150.
