The boiler supply will be fighting the zone returns if the 011 is on at the same time as a zones. Hmm. Any thought to gf's post of using the T&P, air vent, or temp guage tappings as a supply instead? This would help isolate the 011 from the zone header since it would have it's own tapping into the Ergo.

You see this is why the buffer is made the primamry loop. The boiler and heat zones become secondaries. Each needs it's own circ (including the primary loop itself) But the primary's circ must be running whenever a zone or boiler is firing to transfer BTU's out or into the buffer tank.

You can't get away from having that extra circulator unless you can find a buffer tank that has 4 large ports:
2 for the boiler and 2 for the zones.

    Joe Brix,

I had posted this question in the thread about the Ergomax buffer tank, but I think it got lost in some of the other discussion. When we repipe, we will be moving the return header from the house zones up to boiler supply to Ergomax. My only worry is that the boiler pump (0010) would overwhelm individual zone pumps (007's) and not allow flow into tank when boiler pump is operating. Do you think that will be an issue? We plan to pipe Ergomax this spring to preheat hot water for Phase III and then maybe open a carwash!
    Thanks.

    Actually,

the boiler circ is a 0010 (not 011). It has a similar flow curve to the 007's. I guess I'm not really familiar with how flows interact. Heatpro had mentioned checking the pressure/head on the upstream side of the bypass with the bypass closed in order to see what type of backpressure (if that is the correct term) the 0010 would exert on the return header.
