stolen leg

I read the article in UAS TODAY yesterday. The girl had 2 legs stolen. One of the legs was a sports leg she wore for softball valued at about 16,000. Like the article said someone must hate her since this was the second robbery.

    This isn't

an urban myth is it? Stories like this surface now and again. May be true but my inner skeptic asks.

    Brad

I heard this on a news story while listening to radio today, so as long as they checked there sources, as we know they always do, it should be a correct story.

that makes three legs that were stolen from her in three months. maybe she should try wearing the legs once in a while.

    hmm

Correct me if I am wrong here, but I would think that an artificial leg is rather owner specific. The fit, the owner's height, weight, other leg- they must all factor in to its functionality. I don't see it as being particularly useful as a general item.

Besides- where would someone even begin to try and sell a stolen appendage-"Hey buddy,we work for an artificial leg company and the shipper put an extra on the truck. We'll sell it to ya cheap".

Actually, it just came to me---E-Bay. Anything at all will sell there.

    Something does not add up

I hate to be cynical but this happening multiple times to one person sounds like a personal vendetta or carelessness. I mean, the brother finds the first "stolen" leg in the backyard. A prank, maybe. I do not see this as theft for gain. So if someone has it out for this girl, she or others probably have an idea...

I have heard too many stories tugging at heart strings so I have to trust my gut on this one. I am as compassionate as the next person, but I also want to reserve my sympathies for what my gut tells me something is not quite right here.

That the news entities check things only means they report what they find, not necessarily what is real. Happy to be wrong here and I hope she gets her legs back soon. But this seems like a local police matter, not one of a national outcry.. Hope that does not seem too cold.
