    Wow! Fantastic two days.

Coming soon to an HVACtv.com show near your PC: A fantastic journey to Viessmann in RI with a tour captured to tweak your senses. A strong emphasis on combustion testing will be featured along with some interesting interviews.

Meanwhile, the training was so outstanding that Ric & crew faded into obscurity as the Viessmann gang, especially our instructor Jim McCarthy, captivated our attention and crammed our heads to overflow with a ton of information. Ed's salesmanship talk was a highlight too! They rose to the level of Barba's teaching skills (IMHO) & that's as good as it gets.

Not a bad place to visit

I can't think of a better place for a "heating guy" to spend a few days at. Glad you had a good time.

    Viessmann

is one of the few international companies that has excellent products, excellent support, excellent technology, excellent R&D and excellent education for installers, service techs and engineers. All facets of the operation are professional and mesh well.

Quality is a top to bottom constant endeavor.

    Are US companies listening?

And Dave- Sorry about the $30 parking ticket. Providence is a great city but they are getting a little too big for their britches there. Even here in Boston we do not charge that much.

    It's a great training program,

.. and I have a couple of certificates to show for it. Indeed, Jim McCarthy knows his stuff and the entire crew at Viessmann has done nothing but impress me with their professionalism, help, etc.

Plus, it's very impressive to see their warehouse and to be introduced "in-depth" to all their products. Holding a Vitodens HX for the first time makes you realize just how much SS316Ti is in that thing!

I simply wish that more people would be interested in these sorts of training programs. Not all the seminars I attended were full (but most were close to capacity).

    Viessmann Training

Does Viessmann offer any training in the Chicago area? Any information on getting training on the larger commerical boiler line?

So, what makes Jim McCarthy tick?

Why does he keep training? After all, it's the same thing week after week after week. Right? Wrong! I had the opportunity to ask Jim that on camera during the interview for HVACtv.com. Tune in to see what keeps him running like the Energizer Bunny(G).

They only do it in their facilities

The rational behind it is typical Viessmann. They don't simply send out a factory guy and plunk him in a room with some tech's. Their training rooms are crammed full of their equipment. You have your own Viessmann control to work on/program/test or whatever. There is simply no way to do what they do in a "remote" setting. They bring new meaning to the term hands on. Vancouver BC, Warwick RI and Waterloo Ont. are the only places you can go. It may seem inconvenient but as with all things Viessmann, you definitely get what you have paid for.

    In a word.................

    ......beer.

Having been through all of their classes and spending considerable time enjoying adult beverages with him, I feel qualified to make that statement ;-)

    nice pics

of your and PP's work too (unless I'm developing poor sight) were interlaced in the presentation.

Beer? Well, that would explain the din at dinner(G). If only we could have drawn Jim out of his shell!

  • Jimmy Mac has pulled my bacon from the fire...

too many times for me to count.

He is an asset to the Viessmann organization/team. I hope they realize what a gem they have.

    A Very Good Experience

I've been once and am scheduled to return next month. I think that most of us who go there WANT to be there and that we are pretty serious not only about the product line but also the heating theories involved. I feel that there is a direct parallel relationship between Viessmann and their installing contractors. We want to be the best and they are willing to assist us in our efforts.

I think that Jim McCarthy is an outstanding teacher, and that he is a real asset to the organization.

    Viessmann.

I liked the coffee machine. I did the mocha. What about the parts bin that held something like 1100 parts. Punch in the number and the part was at your fingertips.

The darn tables are to tall, I'm only a little bit over 5 ' tall.

Best part I only live an hour away. I wish I had time to go. I wish my supply house would invite me.

    From Ed Nordstrom's salesmanship class:

    "ask them".

He was referring to closing the sale, but that would apply to your supply house & a Viessmann trip too. For us, it was Sid Harvey and Bitzer who asked. They may be a bit more pro-active than your local supplier, but there's no reason why you shouldn't speak up. If they show a lack of interest, you can book training directly with Viessmann.
