Your book saved me...

Dan, need to tell you that reading your books can cause a lot of trouble with servicemen, but certainly fixed my steam heating system.
I had problems with pressure in the system: Despite having set the pressuretrol to cut in 0.5 and cut out 1.5 psi, the pressure went all the way to 6 psi, and when the system cooled down, to negative 5-10 psi. Called the good people from Petro, who come in to service our system, and got two people who told me that 1) there can't be negative pressure in the system 2)the gauge is probably broken and I shouldn't worry and 3)they have been servicing boilers like this for 10 years and just know when something is broken. And both did not wait for the pressure to build up and just left, and before leaving told me that 6psi is the pressure these systems should be running at anyway.
After reading your books, I changed the main vent which solved the negative pressure problem (guess the old vent let air out, but not in)and changed the pressuretrol, which solved the high pressure problem. The system is running great now, and I really want to thank you for your great books.
