    One pipe radiator removal

I am trying to replace some valves on my one pipe steam system. I have the new ones, but the current setup is a little different. The old valves are fastened to the riser normally, but where the 90 degree exits towards the radiator, it has a pipe going directly into both the valve and the radiator. On the radiator side, it goes into a flange. It would seem the only way to have done this is for one of the components to have reverse threads. Since I don't want to break anything, any help is appreciated. About half my radiators seem to be set up this way, probably original (1912 house).

    Thanks.

    Rad valve.

There's no union nut on the old valve? Can you post a picture?

If it's a left/right nipple, from which direction would I turn to loosen? From what perspective?

    Thanks.
