steam boiler cleaning

well, the drain is low as possible on the right side.. there looks to be about a inch or so of section under the tapping.. the tapping on the left side is a solid connection with no drain..

cleaning a steam boiler
hey guy's, whats the best way to clean a steam boiler.. the plugs at the bottom on both sides of the boiler are in for good and i know there is sludge on the bottom.. i took off the relief valve and ran a hose down it to flush it out but after a while when i connected everything again, when i filled with fresh water the glass was full of black water? do i have to flush more? chemicals? thanks0 -
Where do you
Drain the boiler? How low is that connection? You should be able to flush water through, and let the nasty stuff drain out.0 -
I'd use my
imagination while using the hose, and try to loosen the mud, or sludge in the bottom of the boiler, and get it to drain out the drain hole. Maybe you tried that? It may still be cruddy looking, even after extensive flushing out. Boiler cleaners may help, some hold the crud in suspension, and let it get drained out. I think hose it s'more.
