removing steam radiators

I need to disconnect and remove some radiators while I remodel the room. I cannot find any thing on how to do this. I am willing to purchase one of your books if it will explain how to do this. I believe I have a 2 pipe system. One side has a valve and the other side is just a pipe. Do I need to call a professional to do this? Can they show me how? I will have several other radiators to move later. Thanks for any help.

Cessna, It should have a union on the valve side. It's a big nut that should turn so the ring is backed off toward the radiator. The other side, post a picture. I would expect that there is a union or somthing. Watch it they weigh a ton!0
