Hoffman boiler return trap
I know parts are not available, but I have a unit that functions except that the motive steam side leaks. It pressurizes the trap not allowing condensate back properly. Are they repairable? (Cleaning seat and surface) Does anyone have any parts? I will replace with a boiler feed pump if I can't repair unit.0 -
Did you check Tunstall Associates?
You may not find factory original parts but maybe you can get current parts that are just as good as the originals.

boiler return trap
No dice with Tunstall. Any other ideas?0 -
New found value
Everything is repairable, particularly with steam since these systems have very few moving parts. And it isn't like the electronic components you can't do much else about but mourn.
I find repairing is often less costly than refitting a new. We do it all the time with every system we own. Steam has incredible value.
If you really need the return trap (by Gerry Gill's vaporstat suggestion) Armstrong and many other manufacturers still make mini pumpless condensate pumping traps.
And if you need repair work, I would be happy to help. We can discuss this further if you want. It won't be as costly as a new pumping trap or a new condensate electric pump installation. -We have a machine shop in Ohio.

return trap vs feed pump
If I can't fix/repair the original boier return trap, I would install a boiler feed pump/receiver/control to return condensate to the boiler. Vaporstat may be worth a try. I will need to get the condensate out of the return syatem0 -
why won't the condensate
return by itself? it did before..all the return trap did was push on it if the boiler pressure got to high..was usefull before invention of the vaporstat.
