The Buderus G115 series boiler is the number one selling series boiler in the world. There are very few other cast iron boilers able to be used in Germany because of a DIN standard/regulation. They require the cast iron block must be DRY fired for 60 minutes, cooled and then pressure tested to 1.5 times its rating. The casting process is almost too amazing to believe. Extremely well control, computerized, tested and patented formula provides an expected block life of at least thirty years. Ask how many Buderus blocks a contractor has had to replaced.

Buderus rumor.. fact or fiction
Is it true that the Buderus castiron boiler is not permitted to be installed in Germany because of it`s over all low efficiency rating ?0 -
buderus boilers are made and used in Germany0 -
I was fortunate to go to Buderus
this past spring and saw lots of their boilers everywhere. They use their own burner though. Which by the way was a lot more impressive than the burners we see here on their boilers. Darren0 -
Basically
from what I have seen in Germany on the oil side, The US offerings of both Buderus and Viessman are pretty old technology. They have better stuff over there.
This is largely due to the 2000 ppm sulfer fuel that has been available in the US.
Some very savy fuel dealers are now offering low sulfer fuel.
Recently I was involved in the installation of a Swiss boiler that the owner will run 500 ppm sulfur diesal thru. They plan to offer this boiler for sale here shortly. Maybe once the Swiss lead the way Buderus will follow with the good stuff!

Buderus is very large. Do you have any independent corroboration of your claim, Joe?
I met some Koreans at ISH that made the same claim. They had a 250,000 btu boiler the size of a large residential humidifier.
We were one of the first in our area to install Buderus oil boilers. We only had one leaker. We never installed any of the other blue boilers and replaced lots of them under warranty!

Still wondering about this claim

Not sure about Germany, but in most of the U.K. ONLY condensing boilers may be installed without a special variance.0 -
Believe that this is the relevant EU directive:
European Council Directive 92/42/EEC
SORRY--this is from 1992. Still looking.
Found this quote:
"The plans to outlaw non-condensing boilers by 2005 is a huge challenge for the heating industry, meaning manufacturers will need to switch to production of condensing boilers in the next two years. EST would strongly recommend that boiler manufacturers top up their training on installing and maintaining boilers right now - and will work with the industry to ensure installers have the adequate training and skills."
