Vents on dry returns

Yes I plan to install new main vents as you suggested awhile back. Just not enough time in day to do all the honey-do projects.
I was thinking of just removing this vent after the mains were installed.
Thanks for your time steamhead.

    OOP! vents on dry returns

I'm planning on "correcting" near boiler piping and installing main vents, as there are none right now. Steamhead was kind enough to inform me of what I needed.

My one pipe steam system only has one vent and that is located on one of the dry returns. It is mounted on a 90 before it drops into the wet return. The other return has none. Should I remove this vent from the dry return once the mains are in? Should I keep it there and add another vent to the other return? Again - thanks for all the help and resources. Dave

    I would..

    Keep it there.

If there's a very long distance from the last radiator run-out and this vent, you can put another 15" from the last runout on the main, but that's probably overkill.

Unless that elbow is very low and water backs up into it, your vent location there is just fine.

    Any other opinions?

to put the vents right after the last radiator runout connection. This way, we don't waste steam filling up the dry return, and the rads get steam a little faster.

you vent your mains properly, the dry return vent is no longer needed.
