Danfoss TRV Venting

w/ a #4 Vertical Gorton on a Danfoss Unit. The owner reports the radiator heats as well as before & does not wake him up @ nite like the original vent did. The #4 is the lowest volume vent Gorton makes. Might want to take that into consideration before trying.

    One pipe steam TRV's

I have an old house with a one pipe steam system. Second floor constantly colder than first and house wasn't balanced well. After much reading and research (thanks) I installed Danfoss TRV's on most radiators and noticed significant improvement in overall balance and the difference between the first and second floors (was 6-8 degrees and now is 3 - 4 degrees).

As for the difference between the floors I think that I need to move the thermostat to the second floor or try a wireless device that will read from the second floor. Any suggested thermostat's for this?

On the Danfoss TRV's I placed two different orders and got a couple of the "old" danfoss vacuum vents in my first order and then the "new" danfoss vents in the second order (according to the sales rep). The old ones are a little quieter in their action as the new ones rattle as the vacuum pressure builds. I have one radiator on the second floor that really is too noisy and at first I thought it was just due to the fact that it is the last rad to get steam and the pressure did not build quick enough to close the vacuum. I had previously used both vari-vent and hoffman valves on this radiator and it was never this noisy (only the normal hissing for a few seconds).

Can I use another vent with the danfoss valve leaving it open all the way and just letting the valve control the heat?
