Hydrotherm M95 boiler problem

I have a Hydrotherm M95 boiler. Yes its old but so is the customer. The problem is it does not always fire when calling for heat. The customer has to tap either the gas valve(V5817A12112DJ) OR THE REGULATOR(RV 42) to get it to fire. Has anyone run into this problem? Should the gas valve and/or the regulator be changed? Are they still available? Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a separate
regulator and gas valve it is time to upgrade. If the customer does not have the funds for a new boiler then upgrade the gas valve. At least put in a Honeywell V-800 or sim style gas valve. That valve can just as easily stay stuck open and have a run away burner. That is when it gets very dangerous instead of just a nuisance. Change it.
