flow control valves/check valves
In a hot water heating system I've seen swing gate check valves and flow control valves used. Is one better than the other or is it that one only works in a certain situation. I've also seen swing gate checks mounted vertically, now this seems wrong but I'm not the expert. Whats the deal?0 -
Swing checks can be mounted vertically on the send side, as they will swing shut when no water is flowing. On the return, they must be horizontal, or they will swing open. I prefer center-spring silent checks...all position as they spring shut, but take very little pressure to open. Some Taco valves have a weight, and are horizontal only.
