Gas piping next to steam riser....
of the steam pipe. Gas will not ignite until temp reaches 1100 to 1200 degrees.
The problem will be that it may affect the electrolysis of the piping systems in particular the gas line. The corrosion set up for the underground gas pipe could be screwed up by touching the steam system piping.
I would have the utility take a look at it and see if it is okay.

Gas piping next to steam riser....
When the gas co put in a new service some years ago, they ran the gas main through a hole in a brick basement wall, butting it right against an uninsulated steam riser which goes up through the top of that wall. Is this a problem or a code violation?0 -
Thanks Tim. The gas pipe is black iron; I assume the riser is iron or steel.
How is the pellet stove working?0
