wastewater heat recovery systems

a NO. Heat transfer products (Munchkin) specifically says no...I am sure that no testing has been done with this in mind. Plus I am not sure what the reaction with the condensate would have with the copper...Good thought though. kpc

    waste water heat recovery system

does anyone know if the gfx waste watr heat recovery system could be used in the pvc flue of a condensing boiler or pwr vented hwh instead of the waste stack would the temps be to high or danger of coling exhaust gases to much
  • Actually...

I did this with the T50 Munchkin that is on loan from HTP. I did it without their authorization, and yes they are aware of it. I haven't pulled it apart yet to see what;s going on inside, but if its in good shape, I'm going to leave it.

I set it up such that the condensate from teh waste ehat recovery unit will NOT roll back thorugh the appliances HXer. It rolls forward to a drip tee, then into my neutralizer/tree root killing machine. Didn't want to find out what happens to SS when copper is solution in a low pH fluid hits it...

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!

But, fear not. I have it from a VERY reliable source that a particular manufacturer will be coming out soon with a factory authorized add on waste heat recovery unit that will keep the thermal efficiency of these appliances above 94%, even with supply temps as high as 180 degrees F.!!

Times, they are a changin', and if you're not keepin' up, you're fallin' behind. WAY behind, FAST.
