Aqua stat problem?

FWIW, My Guage says the water is 240 degrees. THe Aquastat says it is 180.. My Candy thermometer says its about 175...

Since I hear no hissing, Im guessing my Tri Guage is busted.

I set the aqua stat to 180 and the gauge never gets over 140 or so. WM CGA Gold. Can I raise the aquastat until the mfg's gauge reads 180? Mounted right where they said to mount it. I should mention the unit does cycle off.

    Thanks, T

It might be a gauge problem.

    dilemma

That's the question Tim. which is the more accurate ? install two more gauges and conduct a test pattern. lol that is if you got nothing else to do.

maybe I'll fill a cup with boiler drain water and check it's temp...seems easier than draining and installing addl gauges....har har har...thanks anyway.

Just found out mine is the opposite...to get 180* water, I needed to set the aquastat to about 210* or so...I double checked it with a digital thermometer straight out of the boiler just after it cycled. Pressure is just fine as well.
