I have a burnham n6 gas fired boiler. Would like to know were the differential adjustment wheel should be set. i see it as numbers from 5 to 30. I have the aguastat set for 180 deg. Right now its at 5. is that were it should be. thanks

There's a whole bunch of other info that would be helpful, but the bottom line is this:
Set it as high (30) as possible. This will reduce short cycles and allow longer run time - while also allowing longer off-time. Like a car, the best mileage is obtained by maintaining steady speeds. The more you start and stop the car, the worse the mileage.
If you notice the boiler on bitter cold days cannot keep up, drop the 30 back to 25, and so on.
5 is too low a setting and I'd bet it short cycles like a bandit now.
I would think a 5 - 10% fuel savings may result. It sure as hell won't get worse!0
