If this was,for sure, your problem constant circulation would end it. I would start by checking the zone valve first. Insulation along that cold wall wouldn't hurt either.

baseboard heat banging
hot water baseboard heat, three zones . when no. two zone comes on the pipes bang, i have drained all zones they are free of air i have a cold wall in the basement on the west wall. it has shelves and a curtain seperating it from the rest of the basement. the pipes for zone two run along that wall . could it be the pipes are extremly cold on start, causing the bang? we have a zone in the basement keeping the basement warm all the time. the banging seems to be worse in sub zero temps.0
