A small plane tookoff with Buddy Holley, Richie Valens and J.P. Richardson, better known as The Big Bopper. It crashed less than a mile after take-off.

Thanks for the reminder and the memories, Scott. What scares me is that I was almost a teenager when that happened and remember it very well. Sad Day!!!

    IIRC

Waylon Jennings was supposed to be on that plane(he was one of the Crickets) and he gave up his seat for Valens.

I grew up listening to Buddy Holly, The Everly Bros., Roy Orbison etc....my mom and dad had 50's music playing all the time.

Nazareth had a big hit out of one of Holly's tunes..."Love Hurts".

    Gone but not forgotten.

    Buddy Holly

Probably the greatest. It's amazing what he accomplished before the age of 22. Music hasn't been the same.

    Hi Scott,
My friend, Dion, was also on that tour, and was offered a seat on that plane. His logic regarding the cost of the flight compared to what his parents were paying for rent back home in The Bronx is what kept him off that plane.........

There but for the grace of God.......
