Burnham MST629
Does anyone know what the cost of Burnham MST629 is?0 -
You'd have to call
your contractor. We don't discuss pricing on these boards. If you don't have a good contractor, try the Find a Professional page of this site.

I thought the idea here was to save someone some bucks.0 -
George
How much do you think it costs? How much do you think a contractor should make per hour or per install?
Thanks, Rick0 -
Good questions,I don't have the answers however seeing this is the wall under homeowners we should be able to compare and and get the best for our money.0 -
The \"idea\" here.....
...is not "to save someone some bucks." This forum is for the sharing of ideas, knowledge, product information, the occasional joke or sports topic, and sometimes just people needing support.
Many of us are heating professionals, but there are quite a few homeowners here, as well. I can't speak for everyone, but I am quite certain that the majority of the professionals here are pros not only at designing and installing heating systems, but in running their businesses properly, also. This entails knowing your cost of doing business, and pricing your services accordingly. Everyone's CODB is different - varying overheads, number of employees, and so on.
You feel you should be able to compare here. May I ask, "Compare WHAT?" Pricing is something you will never be able to compare here. If you need work done at your home, I humbly suggest you contact a professional in your area. Heck, contact two or three! Ask for references, pictures of other jobs they've done, or anything else that makes you feel comfortable making your choice. Make sure that they have any and all required licenses, and that they will secure needed permits for the work that needs done.
No two houses are the same, and no two installations are, either. None of us can tell you if a price you have recieved is "fair" or not, especially without seeing for ourselves the specifics of your home. If you're not sure who to call for service, may I suggest using the "Find a Professional" link on this fine website to direct you to someone in your area.
If you would like to question a specific component of an installation that has been proposed to you, by all means ask away! There are many, many pros here who have seen probably just about every possible brand of boiler, furnace, circulator, or widget on the market. Between all of us, we can share our particular opinions and experiences with various products. Several manufacturers' representatives hang out here, also, and can offer that viewpoint to you. Mr. Glenn Stanton, from Burnham, is a perfect example.
We will help you in any way that we can, but not with pricing!!!
Starch
EDIT: P.S. I guess if you mean providing a forum to discuss the best possible heating system, operating at peak efficiency, while delivering optimum comfort, then yeah, I guess this place IS about saving people some bucks!!!0 -
Personally I think your why out of line. This section of the forum is for the homeowner to ask questions for those pros who are willing to help, and we thank those for that help when you can. However I have notice that some pros indirectly promote their own business here and I guess I'm fine with that. However with that attitude maybe this section should be rename from homeowners. On the other hand maybe it's just you with the attitude.0 -
I'm sorry George........................BUT
You may be the one out of line here. Save some bucks? Yeah! If you mean by educating your self on what a professional installation should be so that you don't have to pay twice. I'm with Starch. Mad Dog

I don't see where anyone was asking about a installation, just a fair price on a Burnham MST629 or it could be any other item, if you don't want to give it that's ok but say nothing and let it go instead of the attitude "HEY WANT TO KNOW, THEN PAY ME."0 -
George,
If you want to post on this board you may have to deal with egos and an elitist mentality. If you get these guys going they will start to compare themselves to doctors. I always laugh when they say that. Lets get real how many of us could make it in medical school? I am sure you could send a doctor to tech school and he can learn to be a Heating Pro. I do not say this to diminish anyone here but lets get real.0 -

I am sure they can get what you want.

I think you had better check
with the owner of this site, Dan Holohan. He makes the rules here and he made that one. Every other professional site in this industry that I know of has the same rule. If you can't follow the rules, go start your own site.

Pricing
If you take the labor rate in the NorthEast, SouthEast, Midwest, etc you will find large variations. So pricing an install and trying to make a comparison isn't fair to the customer or contractor during the negotiating process. You as the customer may be using the lower price structure in the more expensive area. In my area alone the labor rate for workers can vary roughly 10 dollars an hour just within a 50 mile radius. No I am not a contractor I am an employee.

Thanks for the replys I'm sure, however it was not my question.0 -
george
Your interperation of what this site is about ,is not what you want. your attitude needs a little adjusting.0 -
Burnham site
Kilroy, Thanks for the site info it was just what I was looking for and george thanks for asking this question about prices.
I like to thank everyone for there kind replys.
Thanks Bill

My attitude is just fine, it's the site that needs to be rename along the lines for some that want to make a buck by thinking if we stick together here we might. Because that the attitude myself and I'm sure others preceive. This is my last word on this subject because it's not going any where. But to those who have help others Thanks.0 -
We are Pro's
that want to make sure the job is done right.
An improper installation can hurt or Kill someone. Asking the price of a piece of equipment usually means that the questioner is either going to try to install it themselves (not good) or trying to find out the true costs. I can't say what other peoples cost are and I have to make a living, much like everyone else.
You want us here tomorrow and next year to provide warranty service if it's needed, don't you?0 -
George has a point.
I mean it was not long ago that pricing was discuss. Also it
is know to many in certain parts of the hvac field as a site that will walk a homeowner thru the task of repairing
their heating system.
You can not give such advise and then not expect a homeowner
to come here asking such question as was asked by the op.
I'm slade by how we can talk with two tongues.. at times.0 -
Can you point out
A thread where pricing, in Dollars, was discussed?
You also may want to post a real email address..... A spell checker may help too.0 -
Its ok jeff.
If you feel you have to attack me so you can look good to
others... I'm ok with that.
As for spell check use it sometimes other times not. Also my
email address is real it just not written out all the way to keep down spam.
It seem you miss my point all together and maybe it because of my spellin or simply you can not see past the nose on your face.Which is properly the latter being all your post
are never answer when it comes to anything technical.
The point I was trying to make was.. in the early years of the wall, prices were discuss. Also with all the ads supporting diy project it no wonder the op asked and thought he should have gotten a true answer to his question.
Peace.0 -
I do
Apologize for the comment about the spelling. My work speaks for itself, so I don't have use 'attacks' to look good to the others here though.
Yes, pricing may have been discussed in the early years, but no longer. I'm not a fan of the ads on the site, but Dan has to make something to help support this site and that's one way.
And regarding the email address? I don't get a lot of spam, so I don't have to worry about hiding my email address.0 -
For many years
I have been coming here about eight years and discussing prices has always been discouraged. The only time step by step instructions have usually been given is from one pro to another and a lot of that has changed over time. There is no where I can find where it states DIY help available. It states advice but there is a difference.
