    Who and where ?

Who makes em and where do I find em ?

Was in a house today for something unrelated and thought, "Boy it's warm in here, and it feels funny". In about 15 minutes I got a good headache. Looked around and found a split adjustable ell on the boiler vent. HO didn't think it was a big deal because his Kidde hadn't gone off.

I fixed it, but would've liked to know BEFORE I got this headache....

    What we use is this

The AIM 450 is the one that we use and it is a good CO detector. Can be found on line. There are others but I can't say if they are any good or not. I do know that mine has saved my butt a few times, and from what others have said in recent threads there are at least a few people around here that should have these. (Like everyone!)

    Hope this helps.

    2 I know of are...

AIM Safety products, such as the 450 single gas unit.

and I was going to say Bacharach, but I can't find their unit on their website.

Also Fluke makes a fairly small digital CO tester, not a belt clip but pocket sized.

I picked up a testo 317-3 from Johnstone's when they were on sale. I'm happy with it. It initializes fast and seems to respond to ambient conditions very quickly. It has a holster with a belt clip...but kinda awkward to carry that way. About 1-1/4x6 inches. Nice big readout...that's getting more important! Has a user settable threshold alarm too.
