smallest steamer...

smallest steam boiler out there? I have a small job that has only 6 radiators...121 ft of edr...cast convectors...existing boiler is WAy oversized....gpm carlin on a W-Mc boiler. New unit could be oil or gas. the other 1/2 of the house is hwbb w/ a gas boiler....ty,kpc

    That's pretty easy.

    No one makes a boiler that small. However, get the smallest oil-fired baby you feel comfy with and downfire the nozzle to 30% more than the EDR. (EDR X 240=BTU output required without a pick up factor, or the ~15% loss for combustion efficiency)

    Just make sure the burner you get is "happy" in the firing rate you will using - not the one that is "standard."

    How bout this

    Add a coil to the steamer and run a couple of lines over to the hot water side of the house and pipe them P/S to the main loop. Then install a two stage stat on the HW side, 1 st stage pumps, 2nd stage hw boiler burner. I bet the hw boiler will run very little except in really cold weather.
