Make sure you get PAID !!!

They Love YA when its cold, BUT they HATE YA when they get the over-time charge. " Oh If I'D known is was going to be THAT much, we would have waited untill Monday ".

Been there, done that, Waited untilled August for final payment.

We get a zone going and then come back on Monday for the rest. I know, sometimes you have to finish or stay but keep an open mind or a C.C. number.

My crew had to remind me Friday. We worked all day on freeze ups. We went to a house that was in betweent tenants and it was frozen. I wanted to egt it going to stop any more damage. About 6:00 PM my crew called and said there was more damage than we thought.... I agreed and they drained as much of the plumbing as possible and we'll start this morning to repair.

The Superman thing only goes so far ..

Scott

Out of 1/2 and 3/4 couplings

New england wallies, how busy are ya? We are out straight and straight out. What a week to be on call, it was swamped all week, worked 7am to 1am on friday, 8am to 3am last night, getting ready to head out again for more fun.. Yesterday I went to a house with five zones rock solid, the ho's left for two weeks, and came back on thurs to a cold house. They called a major oil supplier in tha MA area, who came out, cycled the power, and said they where all said. All five zones where frozen! Rather than calling someone they waited until saturday morning to call us in. There where so many bursts I had to us male x female adapters screwed together as couplings. Hey.. when you're desperate you do desperate things! I'm printing off more literature for freeze alarms as we speak, because many people are wishing they had one. Well, off to another frozen house..

    Don't forget...

... to get enough sleep. Your health, safety, etc. must come before the external clients.
  • been pretty busy

Got a call for a burst heat line in a large codo complex this morning. Got to the property and found out that a sprinkler head froze and burst. water was running for 6 hours before i got the call, there was a major amount of damage and the parking garage was flooded, good thing the garage was heated, could have been a good sized skating rink down there.
    I love this weather !!!!

Scott, I know what you mean about people second guessing the overtime charges. We do flat rate pricing and are C.O.D we charge by the split and by the 1/2 hour for pipe thawing. We sometimes get some cases of 'buyers regret' afterwards, but I think the flat rate, c.o.d pricing helps alot. Had one today from the weekend, new finished basement, could see daylight coming through around basement windows. Split 3/4 loop behind a custom made bookshelf! I had to abandon the line and ran a new pex line what a pain. That's what happens when carpenters with no pay no mind to the heating system.

Mike I too had to go to a frozen fire sprink system. The tenant in the commercial bldg thought they would save money by turning the heat down to 50 degrees. Well, the old drafty mechanical room which held the 6" fire service line was not happy. A 2" cast ell split and leaked what I would guess to be at least 300 gallons of water everywhere.
