I have a Bacharach PCA 25 with the infra red printer, I have never had any problems with it, other than the normal sending it in for reclibration. And replacing the sensors when needed. It has done me well for over 5 years.

    Combustion Equipment

    Residential Testo 325M
    Residential/light commercial/industrial Testo 330-1

I may be biased but I bought Testo long before I worked for them. Now that I work for then and see how the products are made, how the customers are supported, and the sales staff knowledge of combustion, I could not recommend anyone else.

I have attached a copy of the Testo combustion guide for you and some quick starts so you can get an idea about how they work

    Thanks

    Testo

I have had my Testo 300 for about 4 years now. Sensors went bad within the specified time frame. I really have had no problems. I found that using AA lithium batteries are better for me than the rechargeable batteries that come with the unit. They last for a long time, and I keep spares in my truck, no worries about recharging.

Factory turnaround has been great on getting replacement sensors quickly.

I would buy the instrument again if given a second chance.

I'm using a Bacharach Fyr-rite Pro 125 and I am happy with it. I've had it for three months now and probably used it on most of fifty jobs. I got it from Johnstone.

Ahem! Ahem! Ahem! I am getting an oxygen sensor error today...I'm guessing that the shelf life of the sensor was exceeded...Johnstone is getting back to me with P+A in the morning. It would be really cool if the Exalted Bacharach Dude, (who I'm sure is listening!), would send me a new one!
I mean, I'm advertising and all!

I used a PCA 25 at the other company...it worked great.

    The best is

the tool that is in the hand of a well trained technician.

    Actualy, a well SCHOOLED technician.

You can grab a Testo, Bacharach or an TSI3000.......all are great testers, BUT if you don't know what the readings mean, they all have no value.

I use Bach's and the TSI. Fast response time lets me see things I need to see. Bach and TSI have fast response. I see spikes the others can't see. Both on light off and shut down. These are important numbers.

If you can get to a Jim Davis training, by all means DO IT.

    Combustion analyzers

    If I may add......
Combustion analyzers are like "spouses" There are many diffrent styles and types to choose from. Redheads, testo, Blondes, Bacharachs and brunetttes etc etc.
Now its not the style of your selection, but exactly what options or bells and whistles are you looking for? Each tech will have his own desires in that area. One important factor that needs to be noted: Spouses and combustion analyzers do not like to be mistreated. Don't leave them out in the cold, do handle them roughly etc etc.
One techs choice may not represent the entire field of options. What I like, and what you like I am sure is diffrent. But please remember, no one wants a used one. Thats right, in each case, (spouse or combustion analyzer) its very hard to get rid of a used one. and each has drastically reduced resale value. Some may even cost you to get rid of them.
I have had the opportunity to have made 3 selections in my history. Each had options and bells and whistles that enticed me to make the selection at the time. My number one choice was clearly incorrect and I severed my ties with that one immediately. My number two and three choices were good choices. Although diffrent in origin, each has options and features that really get my blood flowing. I keep both around and swap back and forth between them as their availabilty changes for whatever reason.
Take time and make your selection wisely. Get all the documentation and history you can before you make your selection.
    Good luck

This is the best way to check for an analyzer

Odds are the distributor that sells analyzers doesn't really know much about them so it is good to ask people in the field their likes and dislikes.

Bacharach, Testo, TSI, and I am keeping an eye on UEIs new equipment are probably the top lines available. Service and support are really important and that is what you get from the first 3. Jim says Testo, Rudy will say Bacharach and I will say TSI and then the next two. Most important is learn what it can really do for you.

Recently I had a comment from a customer that said one manufacturer will not warrantee their CO sensor if it sees too high a level of CO(4500ppm). That is a problem because we have no control over how much CO equipment might be making when we first test it. I just check an oil furnace and it was making over 10,000ppm. Had I been using another instrument this level could have voided the warrantee on the CO sensor. I am doing some checking and seeing if I can't get this problem cleared up.

    Bacharach Pro 125

The O2 sensors go bad from condensation. When you first turn them on they go through a pre-purge. The number below that is the O2 sensor health. When new it reads about 210. Over time it will drop slowly. I was told it will work fine till it hits about 70 or 80. What can happen is condensation gets into the sensor and kills it. The reading is now 2 or 3. Bacharach has a 2 year warranty and honors it. I send them to Bacharach myself via FedEx 3 day. Turn around is 1 1/2 to 3 weeks. We have 43 techs with them and 5 spares on the shelf.

Hey Mr. Gronski; I've been using the Bach fyrite pro 125 for about the last seven months and am very pleased. Prior to that I was using my wet kit since I mostly do oil. p.s. I saw you in a Taco add in this months Oil&Energy magazine, you're famous. :)

    analyzer

If you want the best I have used it would be a Wohler 335, all readings are on one screen and very easy to use. Ours came with printers and this makes life much easier. Would recommend this to anyone looking.
