Need Squick advice

After many skimming sessions and quick drains to clean out sediment only, my replacement steam boiler water was still a little cloudy. It was still surging in the sight glass and draining back into the glass (is that called "priming"?).

So I added Squick, on the advice of the local supply house, and my question is how long do I let it "work" before draining off the sediment? The instructions say "precipitated sludge may be drawn off" but not when.

Any thoughts............?

    squick

I believe that squick is utilized a an agent to stop boiler surging, not as a cleaning agent. The boiler piping needs to be correct and proper cleaning/skimming should be done. I'v used this product with great results after the boiler was properly skimmed with TSP.
