Is this bad???

Is this a steam system? If so, it is caused by the system cooling down and causing a vacuum. The cause is not enough venting. More or larger main vents would take care of this. You probably don't hear the noise when the boiler is running as the vacuum is occurring at a greater rate, pulling air into the system faster than the steam pushes the air out. TK

When my boiler stops running, some of my convectors start to hiss and sometimes whistle. I always thought that they do that when the boiler is actually running. These do it when the boiler just stops running. Please let me know.
