oil heat vent lenght

Keep in mind even if it may not be part of the code whenever you have an exceptionally long length of flue pipe the temperature of the flue gases will have given themselves off to that pipe long before they reach the chimney. This of course can possibly cause a poor draft condition. Leading to further problems. You’ll refer to the manual of the given draft inducer manufacture for the proper model based on your installation.

In a perfect world I’d do all I could to make sure the appliance is as close to the chimney as possible and that the chimney is sized properly.

If I can be of further assistance please don’t hesitate to e-mail me or post here.

    oil heat vent lenght

I know that in Ma. the longest lenght of smoke pipe you can have without a draft booster is ten feet. If you exceed the ten foot limit what is the total lenght allowed with a draft booster?

    Not true!

That's only for natural draft burners like pot burners. NO BURNER with a fan requires an inducer, read the definitions section please!

Sorry I was only going on what an inspector told a customer who wants a new system. I now see natural draft in the codebook. I am being told by someone who has seen the house there is about 24 feet of smoke pipe in a single story house. The basement was turned into an apartment, making relocation of the furnace impossible, so I am not sure how this is going to work and be legal.

so ....you are refering to horizontial length?

*`/:) help me out ,one story home,4:12 pitch...ceiling package,...riser above the roof ten feet from horizontial combustible surfaces...that sorta ten foot? or ratio of horizontial to vertical?

    No problem,

it's a very common mistake made by inspectors and why we will be doing another round of classes for the Fire Marshal's Office. There are lot of new inspectors out there and my phone proves it!

Watch for other classes we will also be doing around the state ourselves for the oil side, if you haven't signed up for our e-mail you should.
    Go here: FiredragonEnt.com

BTW, if the burner has adequate capabilities I just don't believe in inducers, they are pretty much obsolete today and most are incorrectly installed without interlocks, required by code everywhere.

If you have a high static, high velocity burner flue pipe length is irrelevant unless you're talking over 50 feet of TEPL.

If you don't know what that is go here and download the manual for the PV Series power venter: FIELD

Then, check out Table 3 on Page 3. That's science, not conjecture, FACT!

I am going to have to go over to the house and do the math. I think I will see if a power venter will work with the TEPL. If not maybe a new chimmey of all fuel pipe.
