I finally got around to piping
my Weil Gold Plus 30 indirect under my stairs . All that's left is to connect the hot pipe and take out the boiler coil . Well , stupid me , I piped the boiler supply and return into the indirect wrong . I have the supply going into the upper tapping and the return into the lower - the exact opposite the instructions call for . Hey , it was easier to pipe that way , and I was in a groove . I ran out of gas, I had a flat tire , a terrible flood , locusts ..... it wasn't my fault !
Anyone think I should repipe the heating side ? Will I see a decrease in performance , or something worse ? Thanks in advance .0 -
Maybe
A slight decrease in recovery, but I doubt you'll notice it, IMO. If it was my house, I'd leave it. A customer's, I'd change it so there'd never be any controversy possible.0 -
OH MY GOD!!!! ,,,,MAN
Are you nuts ..you must be out of your mind..your mental train left the station with out you....your record skiped a grove man..your six shooter fill with blanks...
other than that you will problt losse a few degrees on reovery on start up but i bet in the long run you spend more money on coffee that what you'll waste in eff.
send us a pic so we can put it on the wall of shame0 -
I inherited a job
The job had a pool heater that was piped by the 'other' contractor. It too was piped backwards, the goesinta was piped to the goesoutta. I mentioned it to the homeowner and he told me to leave it. It was going to be a reminder of why I'm there....

Thanks guys
for the reassurance . I wish someone saw the look on my face when I figured out I screwed up . We installed so many TR series that I just piped it like I'm used to . DOY !
I'm going to fill the tank up tomorrow and take a temp reading of the cold water , then see how long it takes to heat it to 125 . Of course I'll have no clue if it's a good timing unless I decide to pipe it right .0 -
What boiler...
and what circ. pump????
Bet you can make up the difference if you upsize the circ. a bit... if you throw a 0011 or equal on there as you would do for an Ultra, I'm bettin' you will never know the difference.
Floyd0 -
When the circ
cuts off, the hottest boiler water will be left in the top of the outer tank. Could cause stacking.

if you had an Ultra....
or could set the circ. to run after bit with the help of a delay relay or such you could solve that problem.

locusts...................!
First one I did I made the same mistake. It will be fine. Just curious as to what size S/R piping & which pump?

Update
I just finished the piping and timed it to 13 minutes from street temp to the normal setting . That was with the boiler temp starting at the minimum in the 8124A ( 130 on the gage ) , high limit at 180 . My 18 year old niece is in the shower right now , so this'll be the ultimate test .0 -
Nothing fancy
Everything on that boiler is used except for the indirect . We come across alot of 007s , triple and dual aquastats , and expansion tanks . The indirect circ is a 007 . I'm not woried about a little loss in recovery , we have only one bath right now . I think I felt a little of the stack effect - the 1st bit of hot water out of the sink was blazing hot . I'm going to try my thermometer on it later and run it a while . Thanks Ron and Floyd .0 -
you the man !!!
if it passes the 18 yr old girl test you got it made...0 -
No boss yet
but I have a niece that likes her hot showers . I always have a bucket and garbage bag ready in the work van in case nature calls and shes in there washing her hair for the 4th time .0
