you were reading it ... in the back of your mind was your Mom coaching you on those curve balls...you read it flawlessly my friend...the audience was unaware as to what was happening before their closed eyes - but I knew - thats why I picked you - share your story with the Wall...it's inspiration.

What a show!!
I felt like Rip V. Winkle!..Been out of hydronics for 7 1/2 years,so much awesome, and interesting equipment/tools out there now. It was an honor to meet Dave Yates and Ellen Rohr(who gave me a hug!!) and listen in on Siggy for awhile, and see Hot Rod's V-Twin. Thanks RPA for a great afternoon!0 -
The honor
was mine! Great to meet you.

It will be hard to beat...
but it would be a bigger shame to have missed it. What a great bunch! It was a real treat to be in the company of all of you who were there. Seeing the showcase projects alone during the awards cerimony was worth the trip.
(Dave's speach should have been taped!)
The trade show was also one of the better ones I have attended.
This even proved to everyone that we are all here to stay. It is an exciting time to be in this business.
PS. Acording to Mr. Bean I will have to re-work my handle.
:-)0 -
Your handle
is just fine!
That really makes me mad too(G).
The credit must go to Ellen though. She picked up on that spur-of-the-moment idea and was a perfect balance to help me continue. The hardest part was keeping a straight face while maintaining my mad thoughts. Ellen's initial reaction, which only a few could have seen, was so outrageous, I had to look away or lose it(G).

and...
...anger management begins with raising your prices.0 -
Bobby B.
I really enjoyed the show, and most of your talk and I will raise my prices you hit a nerve and made a point.
I will not however change my title to something socialy cute. It takes a long time for someone to master a trade. My background happens to be in electricty, with an HVAC and gasfitters Masters on the side all awarded by examination. Being a "Thermal Enviromental Control Tech" is not one of my goals, being a skilled craftsman that earnestly practices his trade is.
I view one of the problems with the trades is the constant break down into semiskilled tech postions. Kinda like an exterminator that trained only to kill roaches but has no clue how to deal with rats. Best Wishes J.Lockard0 -
then
I should be as happy as a clam in mud(G). Boy, that anger management thing really makes me mad! But the Zen-like trance caused me to be totally relaxed. Tried finding that on your web site today - with no luck, which really made me mad - again.
Robert, you never fail to provide inspiration. Same goes for Siggy. The best two bookends anyone could ever ask for in presentation land. Unless, of course, Barba were to present his own version of injection pumping. To my dying day, that will always bring a smile to my face and a chuckle to my heart. Relationships, friendships and laughter - it never gets any better than that.

Human resources...
...may have an issue with injection mixing, but it certainly does get the point across. Sorry I missed the show, it sounds like it was first class. Hope all is well in the land of York!

RPA, Bring Back the Bean
Robert,
When you asked the audience that was composed primarily of contractors for a show of hands of the guys who were going to go back after this conference and raise their prices knowing what you had just shown them, I was one of the shameless handful who did. I held up both my hands. The reason: You had me raise my prices just last Wednesday and then you convinced me that Ive got to go up yet again! Where and when you going to be giving your next presentation?
Raise the roof all you Thermal Environmental Comfort Technicians (TECT). You can pick your own acronym but, I kind of like that one:-) If you dont it's going to make Dave Yates really mad;-)

Thanks
Thanks for being "mad". May I suggest that you try to attempt to recreate your diatribe in print to share with those who could not attend. I know it was all off the cuff but the points were great.
Mr. Bean, I have begun preaching your message with the primary theme of supply v/s demand and a secondary theme of "I you can't raise your prices when times are good, when can you?" and You have a once in a lifetime opportunity, dont screw it up.
I met a fellow plumber with a very successful business yesterday. He works 7 days a week, hires men from other businesses on the weekends to try to keep up and still can't. He puts 20 points on everything to his customers and tells them. (and he's still $10-$20/hr behind the local average) he has not raised anything in years. We also talked about all of his costs that have and continue to rise! (Gas prices anyone?) I hope that this good man and his great little company takes the message to heart. (If he doesn't, that will make Dave mad...)
I would like to see a brief article from you addressing this one point that we can pass around at the supply houses.
If you don't, the ones that listened to you and raise their price might be under cut by those who don't. And that will make Dave mad...we wouldn't want that now would we.

The Lowe Fund
gets another $4400.00! And thanks again to you Dan, and all the others that donated.
Tom Simenson's Kitec lamp was a crowd pleaser. Siggy's son Dale walked away with it.

I won some darndd good stuff but,
I had to fight for it.
Got Siggy's Textbook & Hydronics Design Studio professional version. A way cool new thermostatic mixing valve from Gary Hayden & Honeywell and a butt-load of heat transfer plates from Dale Pickard at Radiant Engineering. Thanks one and all for your generous contributions. I'll put them all to good use.

Childrens Garden To Delight The Senses
Imagine a hundred plus people in room with their eyes shut and in total tranquility listening to the eloquent voice of an angry Dave Yates reading...

Thanks Dave you had me in tears thinking about how pleasant a space would be if it were designed to meet a blind childs vision of the ideal environment.0 -

That really makes me
MAD! Jeff, they're sending me to anger management school.
Robert, I re-read that today on your web site and also followed a link on Google to learn more about the woman who wrote that and the school. Don't know how you manage to find things like that! It really is a moving piece and I too was quite moved by it. Very powerful mind images when coupled with the presentation that led up to it as an ending. We should meet there for a picnic! Mom will be quite moved by it (we're having dinner with the rents tomorrow night). It's her fault for passing on the joy of reading! Each night, as a kid, she would read us to sleep - but not by just mouthing the words. No sir, she'd act out with a voice for each character. Those books by Kipling (and others too numerous to mention) sizzled.
Still, it makes me mad she was wrong about being able to count your true friends on the fingers of just one hand(G).
And, I'm mad at the WAVA Chapter of the RPA for busting their humps as the unsung heroes who toiled tirelessly to make this event a huge success! Hats off to Dan Foley and the others who went unnoticed, which is the sign of a truely great party! Man that really makes me mad that they can do that without making a fuss over themselves.
And then there's the RPA gang themselves and the vendors and the..... Where's my tums?
