How to Help?...

Bob, If you check with your state’s petroleum association they can usually point you to some resources that are there to assist folks with low or no income.

Also a great resource that came to fruition thanks to our host here Dan Holohan and the Goddess of Oil Heat Judy Garber along with many other professionals that have given it breath to come alive. Please take a look at www.oilheatcares.com

Thanks for asking such a great and important question

Rather than hijacking the OTT post, I would like some opinions on the following question: What is the best way to help out those that will not be able to pay their heat bill this winter? I know its going to be rough. My local gas company has a Heat Share program. I am wary of charities that have high overhead, and for that reason avoid the United Way. Locally we donate directly to our foodshelf and the Salvation Army, which provides relief for the homeless. What is available to assist those on fixed incomes?
