Dynatherm Boilers

Has anyone out there installed the Dynatherm direct vent three pass boilers. I have a customer who purchased one from the manufacture and had a friend install it. The manufacture sent the direct vent kit 4" (Feilds), a 4" barometeric damper and a 5" x 4" reducer. The homeowner ran 4" pipe off of the boiler since that is the size of the adapter and the size on the Fields kit and he installed the damper.

Problem: Customer called and said that the boiler was rumbling. Arrived and tested the system - found CO2 @ 3% CO @ 200PPM Stack Temp Gross at 400 Deg. #2 Smoke. No matter how I adjusted the system it would not work. Boiler comes with several nozzles, had a .85 found the .75 and installed it. After installing the smaller nozzle I was able to get the system running better CO2 @ 12.9% CO @ 40 PPM Stack temp @ 280 Deg. My thoughts are that the flue is to small and the flue is under a postive pressure.

Question: What they call an install book says that the flue is to be 5", But manufacture sends all 4" material. Has anybody had the same problem. I'm going back to install 5" pipe today to see if it helps.

Burner is a Carlin EZ-1 PRO Boiler is a FP-24 DV
