I have found that some moters that were replaced turned out to be good. the part that was over seen was the strainer in the pump I found out that over the years the only thing that was replace was the oil filter. as with me i just could not get the o-rings to seat right switch to a gasket now i check every pump strainer
hope this helps

motor stuck
any riello people out there? Have a job where the F10 motor wasn't turning. Took the housing apart, hit the button, gave it a whirl and it took off. Put ot back together and everything was fine.
Bad capacitor? Any ideas??
Is that the same motor in my little Riello parts box? I just looked at their web site and it appears it's the same.
Thanks, Gary

I checked Riello literature at their site and both burners share the same part number on the motor.

any idea on what happened?

Off the top of my head
It is a symptom of a bad capacitor. You may want to follow the chart in the Rielo parts box to test it.

i went to Riello training and was told you can sub a 100 watt lightbulb for their capacitor in an emergency if no cap available. Nobody believed them, so they showed us. light lit and everything.0 -
do they give a mf rating for the cap? I guess I should read the troubleshooting sheet; I forgot there was one in the little red box

Could be a flat spot on the motor0 -
100 watt bulb
Riello has taught this for over 20 years. A most distinguished colleague of mine asked the probing question: "how does it work?"
I forgot.
Any takers on this question?
All the best ,

Check:
The prongs on the control and make sure they are making good contact with the sub base.
Then make sure all wires are tight.
Is this a damp environment?
Any bearing noise?

Troubleshooting chart in repair kit is most comprehensive!!0 -
It's not damp, no noise that I noticed, and my little "glow stick" showed power to the motor when it wasn't turning. Seems like a capacitor?

How do I check for a flat sopt?

If it is a bad run cap then you will be back for another try.The run cap is in the "start(main ) winding",so if it is bad the motor would overload trying to run on the "run(secondary) winding".And you will be back. A "flat spot" refers to a bad or worn bearing, seeif there is up and down play on the motor shaft, then see if there is excessive "thrust"play by pushing and pulling in and out on the motor shaft.Let us know what happens.0 -
Nutty day; I did not go back today. How about looking for that flat spot, can I ohm out the motor and slowly turn the shaft? Just an idea.

Flat spot
You would feel a thump as you turn the shaft very slowly(bad bearing). If the bearing was worn so that the rotor dropped down and was scraping the windings then you should be able to find it with a ohm meter ,but the worn bearing would be real obvious. And as william pointed out it could be a plugged pump,or a bad bearing on the pump.0
