Leaky valve

If my steam radiator is leaking from the seam in the valve, do I just remove the handle and stem, unscrew the valve, wrap it with plumbing tape, and re-attach? Is this fairly simple? Sorry for the basic question -- I'm new at this.
Thanks,
Steve

How to fix a leaky radiator valve

This doesn't cover if the valve is leaking at the spud, I had a few in my house that did and ended up replacing the whole valve. I'm better off because now when it is closed it seals tight!0
