Gym floor covering with radiant heat

Does anyone have any experience choosing a flooring material to cover a concrete slab with in-floor heat? More specifically I'm looking for some type of sports floor. And even more specifically for indoor basketball. I don't want to kill the heat. But I'm trying to replicate a nice gym floor at a reasonable price.

well..
if you do wood/parquet...the water temps will need to be lower...I am presuming that some type of composite is you bet shot...although either way some flooring guys will not want the heat on while installing it because it messes up the cure time on the adhesives....kpc

Hi Pat,
Have a word with Launstein, they have guides on their site for using wood over concrete, etc.
My best guess as a amateur in these things is using a floating floor with generous shoe molding on the edges to allow for expansion/contractraction. I presume that a membrane would be used between the floorboards and the concrete to allow the two to expand past each other w/o getting hung up.
If the membrane is supposed to be thick enough to allow some "bounce" then I'd look into the specialized under-floor foams available out there that are good at conducting heat, not the opposite.0 -
The Radiant Flooring Guide
available from the Radiant Panel Association has plenty of good info and manufactures contact links.
It is also a nice handout from contractors to homeowners.
