hot water feed for steam boiler

I am going to be doing some repiping with the water lines in my house to relocate my washer and drier. My plan is to change the water feed to my one pipe steam system from Cold water( actually working that way) to a Hot Water. My boiler doesnt have and automatic feeder and once in a while I have to add more water. I am always worry that the cold water with the hot pipes is going to crack the pipes. My question is If this is ok to do it, is not necessary or is against any codes.Any imput by the experts in this matter is appreciated

Even if you piped hot water to it, it would be a dead end pipe that would cool to the ambient basement temperature. You would already have fed a slug of cold water to the boiler by the time the hot got there.
I wouldnt advise it simply because it would seem like a nice place for bacteria and things to grow.
Mark E and Dave Yates have me thinking about hot water pipes in a whole new way

i prefer to use hot water
and specifically buy auto feeders that can handle hot water..the old mechanical style were for cold only..manual feed doesn't matter but i'd use hot anyways.
