build it big enough so you have some space you can rent out. That way you'd have some income and a captive audience for trying new stuff.
Dan wrote some time ago about the Levi brothers' showroom at Oil Services Inc. on Long Island- that was a real good example.

Gonna build a winner
Hello wet headed people. My long awaited shop is finally being built; foundation is done and I signed my name to a whopper mortgage a few days ago. Life is good.
Does anyone know whos got the best heating showroom, so I can copy them (hee hee)? How about operational? I want to build a small area (maybe 600 to 700 sq feet) with some operational gas and oil systems, Viessmann solar with Vitodens WITH space heating off the solar 300 tubes, a new Waterfurnace Envision system (have 1000 feet of pipe in the ground), and many of these systems will be able to operate the building's 7500 sq ft of radiant floor heating by flipping a switch and turning some ball valves. Maybe even an operational steam system. I'll also have a Waterfurnace water to water heat pump. I'm talking to myself on whether I can bite the bullet on a snow melt system that will also be fitted into this room as well, need to "chat" with the big boys and see who can help me out a little bit for a (approx.) 1.5 M BTU boiler.
I'll need to sneak a trip to Viessmann and Buderus to revisit their boiler rooms.
Anyway, at the risk of being a horn tooter, what do I need to do to capture national attention? I'm not gonna spend all this money because I'm rich, it's because I believe it will be an investment for the (near) future.
Thanks for your time.
Gary

It occurred to me that some may be confused by the term 'retail'.
No, we will not sell boxes out of our new building, we sell 'systems'.
'Retail' means there's enough price in the price to back it up with service.
Cheap people usually don't shop with us.

Good luck
Saw the spot on my way home Thurs night. Looks like a great location, but it was a little dark by the time we got back from the UGLY. ...Ruthe0 -
Yes Ruthe, it's pretty dark there at night! You would be lucky to see the orange ribbons on the stakes in the driveway on Rt 10.
I'll make sure you get on our list for the grand opening (hopefully July!). Grand Mechanical Room certainly will not be complete though; it will take me months to pick away at it. You bet the Waterfurnace will be pumping AC though for the office space.
Please stop by anytime, I play hookie quite a bit; you'll find me there!

If there is
I can't find it. If you have Dan's out-of-print compilation "Ye Compleate Workes of Dan Holohan" I think you'll find it there. Or maybe Dan knows where to link to it online....
