Taco flowvalve on condensate pump ?
the other day . Had to replace a rotted nipple between a condensate pump and a flapper check valve going to one of 2 steam boilers . Taking it apart I saw the flapper was shot too , and all I had was a Taco flow valve .
I'm going back to do other piping later on this month . Should I change the flow valve to a regular flapper again ?
Thanks in advance for any help .
Ron

flow valve vs. check
I would install a regular swing check. A flow check is not design to do what you've done. That pump creates a lot more flow and head than a circulator does and that could cause the "plug" to settle off center and not function correctly. While it may work for a while, you could drain the boiler back into the pump and flood the returns. If this happens, the system will let you know.....loudly.
I would get it out of there. My 2 cents worth.0
