Could thermostat cause a symptom like this?
BTW, where is the low limit?

burnham series 2 model B boiler

boiler shuts off about 120 deg. regardless where the high limit is set.
it will not stay fired to reach 180 but will cycle on and off and stay at 120

sounds like it is bouncing off the low limit.

    Well, Bill....

....I doubt that this problem is solvable without being there at the boiler with a test meter to determine why it is cycling the way you have described. Too many possible causes to diagnose in cyberspace!

    John thanks for your reply

My question is about the boiler, I had the same problem described above. This is not my orginal post.

I had the same problem, no water leaking the pressure holding and the water temp never got over 120 degrees.
I call a heating contractor and he replaced the boiler. It was a 42,000 btu with a thermocouple for ignition.

The boiler is setting in my basement and he didn't know what the problem was, so when I see a post about this problem it must be common. Could it be the aquastat or the gas valve. The high limit switch is in the aquastat, no low water leaking the pressure is holding.

How common is this Problem, any answers out there.

    Thanks Bill

I seem to have had a incorrect anticipation setting as the problem seems to be resolved after adjusting

    Not enough information

    Is there voltage to B1-B2?

Is the high limit open or closed?

Is there still a verified call for heat?

You need to get your DMM out and gather some information. That will quickly tell you where the problem lies.
