TRV failure

One of our radiators has started to stay hot all the time. The TRV was put in only three years ago, and I thought TRVs were generally trouble-free and long-lived. How would I go about diagnosing the problem? Should I just replace the head (? actuator?) Or could the valve itself be stuck, and if so is there a standard procedure to unstick it?
Many thanks for any help,

swap
The first thing I would do is swap it with an actuator from another radiator (assuming there is another one) and see what happens. You may be able to feel whether something has happened to the valve by removing the actuator and operating the valve by hand.0 -
That makes sense, thanks! But I should have thought of it myself. I'll try it when I get home this evening.0
