Head up to the hills of Litchfield County, CT. Beautiful country up there. You'll have to do your own homework on where to eat or sleep. But it would probably be best just to get lost up there. Very nice.

have
you carved up Bear Mt in Peekskill John? Might be a nice trip. Was a pretty good restaurant up there called the Reef and Beef.
There's some good local twisties around my area. A more sedate ride would be up Rt 7 North..
Looks like an awesome machine!
Last burn I took was on a Husaberg Paris Dakkar type thumper-ever hear of them?0 -
Desmo-Drama!
Very sweet!0 -
TSP
Taconic State Parkway , a nice ride.
Get off in the Columbia County Area.
Nice back roads. 2 hours north of the city.
Antique shops, restaurants, Cuts across the county towards
the berkshires, into NW CT head home.

That Husaberg is sweet. Bikes like that are getting popular on city streets these days. I've been seeing lots of KTMs around town.
Bear Mt. is a typical destination for the local riding clubs. I've been up past it on my to New Paltz and Woodstock recently but never really checked out the twisties and the local flavor.
I'll get there.

Thanks
I drove my car on the Taconic for the first time this past summer. Beautiful road. Beautiful scenery.
Thanks for reminding me.

Just stay off the Taconic at rush hour. A real white knuckler.0 -
Does Duck
Does Ducati still make them with the desmodromic valve system?
It's neat to see them making inroads into the Jap high performance bike market. More power to 'em and JohnNY keep it under 100 and between the ditches OK?0 -
Only
up to westchester or so. After that the traffic is low.
I commuted from Columbia county to NYC every day on the TSP
for three years. 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours each way.
Must say I lost most of my hair during that period, had some close ones,
Watch out for deer! And other cars going across parkway, but they closed most of those off now.

Vroom Vroom...
As my boy says as he passes our garage, pointing at the closed door: Dado's vroom, vroom...
Have an 03 BMW 1150RT with 6 payments left! Not to many miles added since the boy was born almost 2 years ago. But I'd love to ride. Layla (the ever patient) has a 2000 Honda Shadow 650...
You should try up by me in NE PA. Rolling hills, farms and endless green... Roads are generally in great condition, traffic minimal. About 2.5 hours from NYC... Can go half-way and do route 97 up the Delaware and hit Hawks Nest...
It's an amazingly pristine part of the world.... And our town, Honesdale, is important in the history of steam...
Great to meet you and your wife. Can't believe we haven't met before considering we're about 3 blocks apart!

Lead the way, Alex!
We'll get together one of these days after the money-making season. Great to meet you, too.

Talk dirty to me
well, I meant dirt bike.
Anyone out there turn laps on moto tacks?
This pick was taken in 01, at southwick. The "V" on my plate stands for veteran. Now I'm 40, I think I get fancy red numbers now, not sure. Haven't raced since this day back in 01. Did most of my racing back in the mid 80's.
The second pick is the same bike, but with my (then) 3 year old on board; her first ride. My wife asked me what i was thinking when Amelia notified her that her shoe melted on my exhaust pipe (when it's evening or almost dark, the pipe actually glows).

Yes, I was wondering how riding a bike on the Taconic is... wow. Deer, locals, critters, the works!

I'm somewhat of an ignoramus, but is that a new bike meant to look old? The beef-cake rotors tell me new, the twin shocks tell me old. Is it air cooled? Nice looking, does it crank?

Earn the bucks now, 'cause once the cycling season starts, it's long days in the saddle, and, of course, all the new toys that every bike needs!
Pleasure meeting you too! Now I can say "hello" when I run into you in the street...
And I still owe you a drink!

Not for about 25 years. Used to race a Husqvarna 250 in the early 80's. Mostly in NY, but did one race at Southwick and one at Waterboro, ME. I miss it still. No bike anymore, but it sure would be fun.
Used to make the annual trek Unadilla back when you were allowed to drink there. Still have traces of the burn marks from running through the bon fire to prove it.0 -
yes, I've heard many stories. I hope you didn't bring your sisters. The good ole days.
I have 3 bikes, next time you're in w mass we can go for a toot.

Yes it is.....
a reproduction of this bike: GT750
It's plenty fast. I'm not a speed guy, more of cruiser. My other two bikes are Italian scooters.
Great for buzzing around the city.
I've definitely scared myself on the Duc are learned quickly to respect it's ability to haul buttocks.
