Heating zone failure

it may also be a frozen valve..if you have a check valve that is on the return line, turn the boiler off and give it a couple hard rapps with a hammer, if you have a zone valve open it mechanically, ...turn the boiler back on at the switch....tap the circulator to the line if there is a circ to the zone...

if none of that worked likely you need to purge air from that complete circuit.

    Heating zone failure

I have a natural gas, forced hot water system. It is 20 years old (HO Smith) and has two zones in our two story colonial home. The downstairs is warm as toast but the upstairs is cold (no heat in the radiators). When I go to the basement, both pipes beyond the expansion tank are hot. One set of return pipes is cold. The oil burner pressure is 20 and the temperature is 190. What's wrong? thanks.
