leaking pipe

Hello:
This is, I think, a very basic question, and I'm hoping there is an easy answer. How do you seal a leak at a fitting in a galvanized pipe? The leak is in a pipe that rises off the main to go to a radiator, within a couple feet of the main. When my steam boiler is running at full steam, it drips probably once every two seconds, and there is even some steam coming out.

I'm a pretty well-experienced do-it-your-selfer, but I don't want to mess with replacing pipe (I would call a plumber if that was necessary, I think), so I'd prefer a solution that doesn't involve removing pipes, if one exists. Thanks for any help

    leak fix

IF it is indeed galvanized pipe, call the plumber and get it out of there. It doesn't belong in a steam system. There is no easy way to fix a leak in a threaded piping system, it's got to be replaced.
