Use steam boiler coil for new hot water radiator

Two years ago we stopped using the steam boiler hot water coil, as it was suspected to be leaking. Now it seems to be leaking little,if any. The boiler is too old to risk working with the 'coil mounting bolts. Even if there is a small leak, can it be used to add a hot water radiator zone to a room directly over the boiler? Also, how low can the water pressure be set in this new closed loop and still get the water to circulate to 5 feet overhead? I am proposing that even with a small leak, if the pressure can be set very low, it may not be a concern of flooding the steam boiler. Comments? Wishing you all a safe and successful new year.

IF the coil is leaking at all, it won't work. Doing what you suggest is done all the time, but you have to rely on a completely closed system to make it work. Any leak will cause the system to drain out and it will eventually flood the boiler.
