ASHRAE

There are two meetings per year that last for three or four days each. The annual meeting is in June and the winter meeting is in January and coinsides with the AHR show. Travel to the meetings, registration, lodging and meals can run $3000 to $3500 per meeting. I guess the majic question is what would everyone want to get out of this if they support it? What information can I provide to help make the decisions?

    ASHRAE Sponsor

I have been a memebr of ASHRAE for a few years now and have gotten involved at the organizational level. I am currently the chairmen of the snow and ice melting sub-committee, the secratary of the radiant heating and cooling technical committee, I participate in SSPC-55 which is the group that cares for the human thermal comfort standard, and I also am a coresponding member of the hydronics technical committee. We are doing some really great work and I hate to give it up until my part is finished.

Recent events mean that I can no longer afford to participate, at least for now. A friend suggested that I try to find a sponsor or sponsors. If any organization or company would like to talk about this and what the potential benefits of doing so are I can be reached @ 631-537-5790.

    Suggestions?

How might we raise this money? Would any manufacturers or associations be interested in helping to sponsor Tim, to keep him on the committee as an independent?

    Ideas? Thoughts?

    Considerations

Some things to consider. ASHRAE is an air side dominated organization but recent work has started to even out the field a bit. Radiant cooling is one of the most important topics on the table mostly because it has the most potential to reduce energy consumption while maintaining expected levels of comfort. Radiant heating is also a hot topic for the same reasons and the influx of condensing boiler technologies makes this a real home run.

I have found that being an active member and/or active supporter of ASHRAE really helps when working with specifying engineers.
