Ed, when they put that coil together they expand the copper tubes to create a friction bond with the fins. I would suggest just ordering a new complete coil.

    beacon and morris

I have a beacon and morris 3 copper tube convector radiator. On of the tubes needs to be replaced and trying to get the old copper tube 1/4" out of the fins is difficult, almost seems like a Chinese handcuff. Each end has heavey brass fittings for vent and steam valve connection. This radiator is in a room over the garage and being a convector does not hold the heat for long. I know it is worth fixing, but I wonder if it would be better to upgrade to something heavier. If not I can solder in a new 1/4" copper tube. Any ideas, Ed.

    Convector

The rooms over the garage would best be served zoned off. They have larger heat loss compared to the rest of the house. Installing a larger radiator would create a large uncomfortable heat swing . Instead of fixing a convector , have one made up....
