Steam Air Valves? Help, please offer your advice...

    Hello Everyone,

Would anyone be interested in offering advice or recommendations on -- 'What's the best choice for Steam Air Valves for a one-pipe steam system?' The manufacturer or type would be helpful.

My goal is to have all the same valves on every radiator in the house. Your help is much appreciated, so let me thank you in advance for any feedback...

    Steam Air Vents

    Hello Jerry,
One of the most common steam radiator steam vents for one pipe systems is the Hoffman No. 40. Also you might want to consider the Heat-Timer Varivalve (adjustable) available in a straight or angle version. These valves offer the luxury of an adjustment to the venting rate meaning quicker venting for harder to heat areas and slower for overheated areas. Also consider changing your often overlooked main line vent valves while you are at it. Both these brand named valves can be found at Sid Harvey's or ordered through your local Heating Contractor. And yes we do have steam heat in the mountains of northeastern California..........dave

    steam air valves

gorton or maid-o-mist jacobus are my valves of choice .
  • Jerry, those main vents are vital

to proper steam distribution at ounce pressures. Measure the length and diameter of your steam mains and tell us what vents are on them.
